Random: Apulman Saragih

Random Facts about Apulman Saragih

Born in Parsinalihan, 29 December 1953. That's why he was called 'par-Parsinalihan' (like Jesus from Nazareth, par-Parsinalihan means Apulman Saragih from Parsinalihan).

He grown up in a village named Padang Bulan. He and his older sister was the only children who went to school from that village back in his childhood. He woke up earlier than his siblings and cooked himself an egg. That was the reason, according to his older sister, why he was smarter than his siblings.

He went to the same Sekolah Menengah Pertama with his future wife in SMP Negeri Raya. They only attended the same class in the 3rd grade in SMP, the smart(?) class.

He went to SMA GKPS Raya. He often got "Juara Umum" but he never got his present for being so. The present was given to his friends. (Or was taken?)

He was not allowed to take an exam to enter any Perguruan Tinggi Negeri. He was only allowed to take exam to enter 'sekolah pendeta' as it was his mother's promise to God.

He came to Jakarta in January 1974 right at the time Peristiwa Malari was happened. He attended Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Jakarta from 1974 until 1979. He took Church History as his major. He wrote about Sinalsal as his 'skripsi' under 'bimbingan' Th van den End.

In 1980, he married TL Purba right on his mother's 50th birthday.

He entered the 'masa vikar' in March 1980 and was ordained as 'pendeta' on 12 April 1981 in GKPS Teladan, Medan, just three days after his first child was born in Galang.

He became 'pendeta' in 4 places with not less than 30 congregations (in total) during his only 18 years of service.

How's that? Random?
